symmedia Hub – from the CEO’s Perspective

I would like to take the time to reflect on the new “chapter” in symmedia’s journey. We have successfully brought the symmedia Hub to our customers. Some of those who have been with us for a while and have been closely following our activities might point out that we already had a name for our new product (Secure Service Hub – SSH). This original name was a working title that became established due to the breathtaking speed with which we developed our new product. SSH as an abbreviation, of course, has a double meaning (analogous: secure shell). This didn’t bother us initially since we also develop high-security products, which are deeply rooted in our DNA.

Our transformation reached an important milestone with the GOLIVE of the SSH. Customers are now using our new product in a live environment and are maximizing the benefits of our new functionalities built on the latest technology and security architecture.

However, to achieve our vision of an “independent multi-tenancy platform as a gateway to the secure last mile to industrial machines,” it took 2023 and the first half of 2024 to complete our business case. With the launch of the symmedia Hub, we can now offer all the functionality on our platform to both manufacturers and operators, providing the essential added values that we set out to deliver: Connectivity, Security, & Collaboration!

With the symmedia Hub, customers (manufacturers and/or operators) can decide how they want to internally manage their machines efficiently and sustainably. Moreover, they can establish multilateral integration among each other (expanding supply and value chains).

The symmedia team has completed this transformation in a record time – by incredible commitment and technical dedication. The change, or rather the expansion of our DNA with agile and extremely focused work, has enabled us to strengthen our existing virtues and complement them with new behaviors and positive action patterns. That we’ve done a good job as a team is shown by the countless customer conversations and sales events, where we’ve received outstanding feedback: “The symmedia Hub is exactly what we need – finally, someone has nailed it!”

I believe our achievement of the past years is that we never lost sight of our core values: Connectivity, Security and Collaboration. With the implementation of the symmedia Hub, we’ve not only solidified these values but also massively expanded them. Putting the customer first is always the best approach. When the business case allows every customer to focus on their core values and technologies while realizing synergies in the market, success is almost a logical consequence.

Today, we experience high demands, and our sales pipeline is more filled than ever before in the history of symmedia. The current economic climate, along with the cautiousness of our customers and prospects, is delaying the swift realization of added value for our clients. Even in challenging times, the symmedia Hub provides a dependable tool to enhance efficiency across various levels of the digital service process, ultimately leading to cost savings. If a customer can securely perform remote maintenance on their machines and integrate these processes digitally, within their own company as well as extended to service partners, they not only achieve concrete cost advantages but also contribute to sustainability and CO2 balance.

With the symmedia Hub, we are unlocking a universe of possibilities. This begins with machine management, the digital service process, and cross-company digital collaboration. But once the machine is connected to the Hub, it can be remotely maintained, malfunctions can be resolved, and optimizations can be implemented in real-time. When the machine is connected, data is automatically stored in the customer’s secure area. This data can then be safely exported for further analysis, dashboarding, monitoring, or data science. The connection to the machine also includes the possibility to run our own and/or third-party applications on the Edge Device. Productive use cases from our new customers are just showing the beginning of an ecosystem that seems to have no limits.

As CEO of symmedia, I am incredibly proud of the team, our work, and the results we’ve achieved with our customers!
